Great Vendor, willl do business with again! However, this item can and did affect my thyroid function.
BulkSupplements provided a free trial of this, in exchange for a review.
I was excited to try ALCAR, after reading all the glowing reviews. I'm a female, age 54, post menapause. I was looking forward to more energy, clearer thinking, etc. I used it daily for about a week, starting with about 250mg first thing each morning, and then increasing to 500mg. The first several days I didn't notice any changes. Around day 4 I noticed that I was unusually tired during the day, even after a good nights sleep. By day 7 the tiredness was overwhelming...mentally and physically. I hadn't change anything, except beginning to take ALCAR...so I jumped online to do some deeper research. And WHA-LA...I had my answer.
I had previously read (before taking it) that ALCAR is sometimes used to help with Hyperthyroid issues. When I researched more in depth, I learned that it can affect thyroid function across the board. So if you happen to be someone who's thyroid hormones are OK, but they're on the lower half of the the OK range...ALCAR can drop them enough to cause a significant change in how your body functions.
The next morning I didn't take ALCAR, and that afternoon most of my former energy was back again! Not all the way, but I'm sure in a day or two, when my thyroid function levels back out, I'll be back to normal again. I should have paid more attention to the info on treating hyperthyroid with ALCAR...but I instead went by all the VERY positive reviews. A huge mistake on MY part. Just be aware that this can happen...if you start feeling more tire than normal upon taking it, probably would be a GOOD idea to stop!! Some people are fine taking it, and some aren't.
