Wireless is Garbage, No Wired Option, Paid Google Home Integration
Wireless Capability is Garbage: The WiFi capabilities of this device are 2.4 GHz only (there is no 5.0 GHz capability) AND I had to to disable the 40 MHz band on the 2.4 GHz antenna (I couldn't use "Mixed" or "40 MHz only", *I had to select "20 MHz only"*). The are countless individuals online explaining their difficulty in getting their garage door opener to connect to their router. After many hours of fiddling around, I discovered the issue to be the 20/40 MHz band (I am guessing this is the issue with most people's routers). Chamberlain does not appear to have figured out the 20/40 MHz issue. Chamberlain simply provides a list of incompatible routers (which you should not trust). Even assuming there is no issue with your router, simply connecting the garage door wirelessly to a router/AP is extremely painful. There is delicate ballet of specific button presses (for specific amounts of time) in coordination with various LED colors and blinking frequency that has to be mastered exactly correctly. *And*, any slight misstep in the process (of which you will have many) locks you out from configuring the settings for 30 minutes. So, don't plan to do anything else that day, and keep that ladder propped up under your opener. Even after all of that is said and done, one of the two openers I have keeps disconnecting from my network. No Ethernet Port: Of course, I could have avoided every problem with the wireless setup *and constant connectivity issues* if they would have simply included an Ethernet port. Seriously, why not just include an Ethernet port? I could have wired the opener in less time than it took my to set up the wireless *and I would never, ever, have a connectivity issue*. Google Home Integration Costs Money and is Garbage: You have to pay to integrate the garage door opener with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT. Each subscription is separate, so if you want 2 or 3 of those, *you will need 2 or 3 separate subscriptions to maintain those services*. Also, and most annoyingly, the device does not integrate with Google Home in the same way other smart devices integrate. *Because* Chamberlain wants collect money for this service, you have to set up the connection through a weird skill/program/service voice interface. To work the garage door, you have to use a very particular syntax and it takes much, much, longer to respond than other smart home devices. The device cannot be controlled and maintained with you other smart devices in Google Home, you will see a list of all your smart lights, smart switches, thermostats, smart TVs, *but not your garage door opener*. Simply put, it does not integrate like other devices, it integrates in a much worse way, with less functionality, *and you have to pay for a subscription to do it this way*. And, the only way for Chamberlain to collect money off of this "service" is to have it connected in this worse way. **If the device was not so difficult to remove, I would return both of them.**
