I asked for a credit limit increase and felt like episode of Shark Tank.
Keep in mind, the credit limit on the Amazon Prime AMEX is low, in fact it's the lowest card I have. My other AMEX and my Black card is twice the limit, my average card limit is 4x-5x, and my highest limit card is 10x of the Amazon Prime AMEX. To start off, I submitted a web request to increase my credit limit. I was redirected to a blank page. 2 weeks later, I eventually got an email asking for additional documentation. I was asked to provide the last 2 years of business tax returns, personal tax returns, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, notes to financial statements, Interim Financial Statements through the most recent quarter. And this documentation should have been prepared by an accountant, and preferably audited or at least reviewed by an external auditor. This seems like a lot of work for small request for a $5k-$10k credit increase on the lowest credit card that I have owned in a decade, personal or business. Well I uploaded all the documentation. They called me back asking me to correct or resubmit paperwork. This went back and forth several times. Finally 2 months later I get a letter in the mail that my request was disapproved for the following reasons. 1) Company revenues are too low. 2) Insufficient return on Assets. 3) High liabilities to sales ratio. 4) Margins are too low. At the bottom of the letter, the last statement reads "Although this decision was necessary, we continue to value your business." I could have sworn I heard Mr Wonderful say "You're Dead to me", as I got escorted out of my living room. For all future readers, be wary of what you will receive with the Amazon Prime Amex. For all current customers, don't go though any process that requires a financial decision. Unless you feel like to go a long, depressing, and lonely journey that the Amazon Prime Amex will take you on.
