These do fine whenever you are in the same warehouse but once you start putting walls between yourself and others, the static starts to come in. I know the "30-mile range" is under perfect, ideal, open-air conditions so that range is never to be expected. However, even at 1/4 of a mile from inside one building to another, the quality drops considerably. UPDATE: Battery life is horrible. Bought 10 pairs of these just over a year ago and most of the batteries are completely dead. They will show a full charge but once you push the PTT, the radio acts like it power cycles and will not transmit.
