After 5 wonderful weeks of security, this lock decides to never open up to me again. Everything was going great, really. It did it’s thing it was meant to do- lock my bike. Make sure any pesky thieves in downtown won’t try to make morally questionable decisions. But alas, when I thought things were going as well as they could, two days ago, this lock that has treated me oh so well decides that no more. Now I would have accepted this sudden break if it hadn’t want to lock onto my own bike to a city public stop. With no one nearby with a wire cutter, I simply had to leave. Luckily either the lock decided to do a wondrous job of keeping my bike secure or the dwellers decided to make better choices about stealing. Either way, my bike is still here, still locked. You would think, maybe you forgot your combination? You see, I’m a simple, naive gal who puts her birthday as the combo, and although the true day of my eventful birth is something I have no memory of, certainly the date is something I’ve gotten accustomed to. And it’s something that I thought that this lock will remember and cherish well. However, as I go to put in my combination, the lock doesn’t open. After a few attempts, I wonder to myself, are you sure this is the combo? My friends even question my memory, and the last 5 weeks of happy go-riding with this lock become a blur. So many attempts go by, and the jiggle and the pull grow tiring, and somehow I get to the thought, “Is this my fault? Did I ruin this beautiful relationship by the slip of a code or a accidental reset?” Alas I log onto Amazon.com to review the lock and see similar reviews of people’s locks suddenly stop working and discover the validation I never knew I had. This isn’t my fault, but the fault of the lock. The fault of the manufacture. The fault of Mr. Bezos. Sir, if you see this, I want my $12 back. And the extra therapy money for the healing of this secure to sudden end of a relationship with this product.
