I wanted to give this a fair chance to win me over after all the bad press, but it did not. It was a billion dollars worth of boring. I wish another studio had gotten the rights so we might have gotten a better adaptation. There was poor acting, bad dialog, a story that is literally all over the map - what a mess. You can't have a good show without those fundamentals, no matter how beautiful the costumes, set design, and cinematography. I love Vox Machina, the Boys, Invincible, The Tick, Reacher, Jack Ryan, The Man in the High Castle and other great shows on Prime. Amazon you clearly gave this over to show-runners that had no business taking on this epic property. This needed a few A-list actors, a simplified story, and good well-written dialog. You had an easy template to follow with Peter Jackson's trilogy, but you had to change course and try to modernize the source material. Bottom-line, don't waste your time.
