Just got my bright and shiny Fire 10 HD this afternoon and after about an hour of updating and registering it I was ready to use it. I went to the app store to download Firefox, as not all web sites support Silk, Amazon's browser, and was completely unsuccessful. No option to download another browser. Strike one. Next I opened the setting to see how to mirror my display to my big screen TV through my Firestick and saw no option to mirror. I looked on line and there was a Youtube video of someone doing just that with a 10 HD but it was the earlier model. Strike two. So I contacted Amazon and after an hour and a half talking to 3 different people who barely spoke English, "Dave" told me this model (7th gen) doesn't allow to load or use any other browser and it doen't allow you to mirror. I asked him why as usually the "new and improved" (just out in October) have at least the same features, if not more, hence the "improved" part. He told me I had to have a 10HD with a "memphis" chip if I wanted to mirror. He told me he would email me the information and call back in one hour to see if I wanted to return this one and get one that would actually do what I bought it to do. 8 hours later I have neither received the promised email nor received a call back as promised. Strike three. I have been a long time Prime customer of Amazon and am a bit surprised that I had to talk to people barely understandable and was lied to. I realize my case is rather special but I would look closely unless all you want is a Kindle to read on.
