Poor range, buggy app, incompatible with some older devices
I boxed this up and sent it back after just a couple hours of trying it out. Summary: You have to use multiple Eero devices to match the range of a single traditional router. The app is buggy. Some older devices won't work, even when the Eero is put into legacy mode. Problems I encountered: - Initial setup didn't work. I ended up having to call support and they were able to set it up on their end. The app requires you to have internet on your phone while the router is being configured. My rural home doesn't get cell service so this didn't work. Without internet, it wasn't able to set itself up and, worse, the support phone number isn't included in the app. I had to reconnect my original router, find the phone number, reconnect the new router, call support... - Range for a single Eero router is very poor, maybe 2/3 of the range I get with my old Netgear R7800. My goal was to setup a second router in an outbuilding that my original router easily reaches. I wasn't able to get any signal from the new router in my outbuilding. Even within my home, I had no dead spots with my old router but had several dead spots with a single Eero router. - My Sensi thermostat wasn't able to see the wifi network even after putting Eero into legacy mode. I'd have to buy a new thermostat in order to use the Eero. - The app constantly crashes and there isn't a way to configure the network from a webpage. Being forced to configure a network from an app is miserable, made even worse by a buggy app that is constantly crashing or getting stuck on certain screens. - The Eero doesn't have any mounting holes. You can't put it on a wall without buying a separate bracket.
