So the sensors themselves work very quickly and well. They react within seconds by alarming you with a high pitch beeping. Very loud. However, one night I had water in my laundry room and it went off instantly. But the notification didn't come through for 15 minutes. Neither did the email. And I have awesome reception everywhere in my house 1gbps fios connection. So that makes me nervous. Alot of damage could happen within 15 mins. I bought this unit specifically for the wifi and push notifications. Also there is no option in the app to change the notification sound for these units. It sounds the same as your default notification which doesn't alarm you at all. Easily ignored if you get lots of emails or other app notifications. Follow-up: I pulled the gateway plug in out of the outlet and it just fell apart. Literally the front separates from the plastic frame around it that holds in place. Now I'm just using the water sensors without wifi for some sort of protection. Going to move over to smartthings leak detector eventually, not worth the price.
