The case for clumsiness
I've had iPhones since the 3G. I have broken every single one except the 3G. I have never bought an Otterbox till this year. Otterboxes have always been ugly and bulky to me. I always thought I'd rather have a cute, stylish case and risk my phone being damaged. The most protective case I'd ever had was a Speck candyshell. Then, the other day, I dropped my 3 month old iPhone 6 Plus for the umpteenth time and shattered it. Catastrophically. To the point where the screen blacked out in places and the touch screen didn't work. I had AppleCare so off to the Apple Store I went to replace my new phone for a "mere" $79. As the Genius went to go disable Lost my iPhone, he pulled up a list of about 6 iPhones. "How many phones do you have???" He asked. I realized THOSE WERE ALL MY OLD BROKEN PHONES. I finally used my brain and rushed over to buy a protective case. No more broken phones for me! I chose Otterbox over Speck for 3 reasons: the Speck cases are shiny and scratch easily. The Otterbox is a matte, textured plastic. Spech also uses rubber, which ends up flaking or disintegrating after some time. Otterbox uses silicone which shows very little wear and tear. Finally, Otterbox includes a screen protector which is a nice bonus. I ended up with the white/pink commuter. It's kind of a silverish white with neon pink. I was hesitant to buy a commuter since some said the silicone was loose around the edges. Thankfully this was not the case! I now have a protective case (a bit bulky but not too bad) and can sleep well at night knowing my phone is not going to break. Money well spent and I should have bought one years ago!
