Snow Boot Connoisseur
I poured over the reviews of these boots and many others. It's so hard to find a snow boot online where lots of people are conflicting with information. Here are my two cents, for what it's worth, from a true snow boot connoisseur.
For those who say they are too small...
This is the case for almost any boot with an insulated liner, but if you remove the liner, they are a true to size fit. Leaving the liner in, which is recommend, they are about a half to a full size smaller. A decent trick is to know if you're on the loose end of your true size or the larger end. I personally wear an 8.5 and ordered a 9. I can wear regular socks with these and have no problem. If you also prefer wearing insulated socks with these, I'd recommend ordering 1-1 1/2 sizes up, depending of if you run large or small in your normal shoe size.
For those who say they are too stiff...
Most snow boots with a rubber casing on the foot tend to be very stiff when you first buy them. Work them with your hands, and after 1-2 wears they will loosen up. This style of boot will conform to your foot, and adjust as you break them in. They won't be perfect when you pull them out of the box. The liner will change as well. The more you wear it, the more they will adjust to the real shape of your foot. If you really want them to become more comfortable faster, you can wear super thick socks with them around the house for an hour or two when they arrive before you wear them out. This will help them adjust to your foot shape quickly, and you can make sure they are supportive of your arches without putting wear and tear on them if needing to return.
For those who say they are too clunky...
They are a snow boot, not a fashion boot. These are for a practical purpose, not for running around and looking cute. They are, however, very adorable for a functional boot. The tread is super thick, for walking in thick snow, or on ice, or through slush. Being a person who has been in a position to walk across snow, slush and ice a few times a day, these have saved me from a few trips to the ER. They have great traction!
For those who say they aren't waterproof...
The rubber is waterproof... the fabric isn't. The rubber does go up quite high and encases the top of the foot. Unless you have a defective pair, they are quite waterproof. If you're standing in ankle deep sludge or water, you're going to get wet. That's not what these shoes are for. In that case you need insulated rubber boots, and not snow boots. I've worn these in 1' snow, ice, and slush that was a few inches deep and they are amazing.
All-in-all, these boots are amazing snow boots. They are warm, they are functional, and they are actually the cutest snow boots I've owned. If you're looking for a snow boot that is sturdy, waterproof, and can get you in the snow and ice safely, then these are the boots for you.
