My first thoughts were "Go for the dremel" but I watched some review videos and wasn't sold. I checked out about 5 different models here on amazon and finally decided to give this one a shot. This one's on the lower end of price but does what it says. It's a nightmare to cut my chihuahua's nails as she is older and a big chicken. I thought I would have to ease her into letting me grind her nails but the experience was much better than expected. The machine is very quiet and only has 1 speed setting but it did the job like a champion. It did such a good job I was able to get all her nails groomed in 1 sitting. It takes a little getting used to, I recommend starting with light dabs to get a feel for how much pressure you need to apply. Make sure to hold the dogs paw around the claw so it does not get pushed back into the paw. Start at an angle and work your way around the claw stripping layers a bit at a time. Don't worry to much about getting the claw caught, it happened to me on a few attempts but the motor stopped and the dog didn't feel any discomfort. The plastic edges prevented the claw going to far in.
