Was a little worried buying these based on other reviews posted here but was pleasantly surprised so wanted to share my experience with anyone researching pros/cons. Here goes: PROS 1. Amazing price. Other gates go for 3x as much. 2. Wider than most other gates. Other gates typically go only up to 60" wide. 3. Nice look 4. Smooth operation. Yes, these can be closed with one hand. Watch the youtube video to confirm that you are doing it right. It's like a seatbelt, if you stop mid-operation it locks on you so you have to start over. 5. As with all gates, must be installed properly in order to work correctly. Our baseboards are very thick so the spacers provided were not enough. We went to Home Depot, bought rectangle wood pieces the thickness of our base, attached them to the wall where the top connection points for the gate components are, painted them to match the walls and viola, gates look great and work properly since they are installed square. 6. Child tested and this mother approved. We have a very active toddler. This stood up to her test. CONS 1. Hardware is indeed not great. The screw heads do fall off. Buy your own screws (#8 size x thickness of baseboard + wall material) and you are good to go.
