★★☆☆☆
Poor quality material used at point where normal stress is expected
The material used around the pivot area cannot withstand normal stress and breaks easily. A brand new unit on a 9.5 hour flight from London broke before the plane had landed. The noise canceling feature works pretty well though because it got me the well deserved sleep I was looking forward to have. I have now switched to using a $200 headphone even though it occupies bit more space in my carryon bag. Other observations: The headphones will take full volume output from my macbook air without distortion. But when the noise cancellation is turned on, input volume must be reduced by more than half. The bass (low frequency) signals become very distorted otherwise. I noticed that when comparing to a $200 pair of head phones, the noise canceling feature works really really well in the higher priced head phone. For example when a dish washer is running in my kitchen, sitting in my family room I can hear it. When this head phone noise canceling is turned on, it eliminated the sound coming from the dish washer. But when the AC kicked in, I could hear compressor that is outside the family room even with the noise canceling turned on. With the higher priced headphone sound from both the dish washer and AC compressor were suppressed and it was much quieter.
