I have been buying this specific Maxwell House coffee for years. Whenever it was running low, I'd pick up a container at the grocery store for a reasonable price. Thinking it might be more convenient to buy online, I checked Amazon, and was surprised to find it was listed at a less expensive price. Before I ordered, I checked to be sure it was sold by and shipped by Amazon. It was, so I ordered immediately. After I used up all the coffee I already had, I opened the flavor lock on my Maxwell House coffee from Amazon. The seal looked normal, but when I pealed it open, I didn't get the usual fresh coffee smell that I especially enjoyed and looked forward to in the morning. Instead, my olfactory senses were hit by an acrid, repulsive smell that reminded me of coffee that had been sitting on an unattended coffee maker for a few days. Since it was early morning, I brewed it up anyway, because I needed my dose of caffeine. Unfortunately, the taste was even worse than its smell. It was really bad. It was only then that I looked for the expiration date. My old container had the date on the side, but this date was on the bottom of the container, I could see most of the year (2021), but the date and month looked like it had been erased (see photo). This morning, I brewed another pot and was hoping for better results. It was still horrible, and and after I brushed my teeth, I still had a horrible after-taste in my mouth from that coffee. I called Amazon, but since it was past the 30-day cutoff for returns or complaints, I was out of luck. The lesson I learned is to check expiration dates immediately on any grocery item I order on Amazon. If the date has been deleted or is even close to expiration, I will notify Amazon immediately. Since this was sold by and shipped from Amazon, I just wish they'd do a better job of policing their expiration dates. This container should never have been delivered to me in the first place.
