What in the world?
I really can say I’m struggling with what the heck I just read. I’m aghast that this is book one of a series...so there is more of this train wreck? The saddest thing is that the plot was interesting, novel even, but the writing was so poor the story could not redeem it. My guess is that the author is very young because the language was so inconsistent it ruined the story. If the author happens to read this here are a few tips: 1) gonna is not a word and doesn’t go with old word language that was being used in the story. It’s jarring to go from ancient fae language to modern colloquiums. 2) it’s lodging, not logging 3) an ancient fae horde is not going to use the word “ babe” especially when you just established that they don’t know modern language. Please find an editor, ideas are good but assistance is needed with grammar and continuity of content. For readers- it’s only 157 pages so you’re not out a lot of time in reading this but I can’t recommend it. Maybe I’m not the demographic but the main character is 37 so I’m not sure if it’s written by a teenager with “old people” in mind or by a mature author with a limited writing skill set. Either way, you’ll likely be disappointed.
