In fairness the product description didn’t claim to be a tripath amp, but the deliberate effort to mimic the Lepai (Parts Express house brand) version is overt, from using a similar sounding name to the model number LP-2020A to the “unique” aluminum enclosure. I don’t have the inclination to test the actual output, but qualitatively I’d put it at 20% if the stated value of 20W R.M.S. One of the questions asked if it was a tripath, and some reviews claim it is quality, so either someone pirated the listing and is sending out junk or the folks in Bukang are pulling a fast one. I have two Lepai amps, both are great. I wanted to add a third in a new location, and because this one had a black case that matched the area better, I just swapped it out for my silver one—same input, speakers and power supply. I was stunned at how inferior this one was for essentially the same price. Like a dummy I already tossed the packaging, otherwise I’d have sent it back. I will get one from Parts Express, this one is unusable. Side note – the genuine Parts Express version is available on Amazon, but it’s worth checking the price direct from their site too, sometimes there can be a significant difference. This is technically a functioning amplifier, but compared to the version it is copying it’s like putting a fiberglass body on a VW Bug and saying it’s a Ferrari.
