Picture is worth a thousand words
On video surveillance it took the thief 11 seconds with an angle grinder to make a 1/4" cut at the thinnest point on this lock. Then they took a pry bar and it popped off with very little effort in just 6 seconds. We were on vacation, and I get a call from the Police that our neighbors called in the theft. Type in at youtube "trailer theft". That is not my incident, but it went down just like that; partial cut to keep the noise short, then pry it off. I had two other locks on the trailer too, and it took LESS THAN 4 minutes total and they were gone. I am now going with a AMPLock on the cuppler, a 10' Abus 10KS chain through the rim and around the axle with a Abloy PL 362 Grade 6 padlock and McGaurd Lugnut Locks. If I could afford it I would go with a Sargent & Greenleaf 951C padlock, but its out of the price range. Word to the wise, trailer insurance does not cover content if it is stolen on the driveway. Home or renter insurance does not cover content in the trailer if you do not formally declare the inventory and value to the insurance company. All you will get is $200. Bottom line: this lock cost me over $9,000 because it does not even deter a thief. I saw it on video. The thieves love these locks. Look up AMPLock Coupler Lock for $265. Its expensive, but you do not want a visual deterrent toy lock to guard $9K of contents. I will post the AMP Lock next to the remnant of this lock to show the difference. Also, nothing beats a TRAILER GPS Tracker with 5 year battery life. It only costs $25/mo.
