Really disappointed--they flicker when dimmed
I bought these to replace the standard incandescent bulbs in my microwave, as all the other bulbs in my home are LED and I appreciate the energy efficiency. My microwave has two light settings--"high" and "night," so I spent a few extra dollars on these because they're specifically advertised as being dimmable. I installed them no problem--perfect fit. They're about the same brightness of the 30W bulbs that they replaced, but they're a little on the cooler end of the spectrum (the stock bulbs were a very warm white--I would classify these as being a medium warmth.) The "high" setting looked fine to my naked eye, but the "night" setting looked a little off to me (I couldn't quite put my finger on it) and I started to get nauseous within a few minutes (I suffer from migraines and am sensitive to certain light.) It almost seemed like they were flickering very fast, almost too fast for the eye to tell. I decided to take out my iPhone and record my kitchen in slow-motion with the bulbs on. What I saw in the video shocked me. You could literally see the light turning on and of, on and off. Not just a flicker, but completely on and completely off again. This has never happened to me with any other LED bulb before, and like I said every bulb in my home is LED. This happened in both the "high" setting as well as the dimmed "night," although the flickering was a little faster on the high setting, which is probably why I couldn't tell with my naked eye. I guess my eyes are just super sensitive to the light since most of the reviews are positive and don't mention flickering--maybe I'm able to sense the refresh rate of these better than most people. Like I said, I have a migraine disorder, so the extra sensitivity could be due to that. But just be warned that if you happen to be sensitive to light or get frequent migraines--these might bother you. They DEFINITELY do flicker, it's just a matter of whether or not you'll be able to notice. I know it's not all in my head because you can literally record them in slow motion on your phone and watch them flicker on and off, on and off for yourself. I'm going to try a different brand. I'm not sure why it's so hard to find high quality dimmable LED bulbs in this style. I have never had a problem with any other LED bulb before. I recorded the rest of the lights in the house just to be sure, and these bulbs are the only ones in my whole home that flicker on slow motion video. I decided to attach the slo-mo video so you can see for yourself. I start with the microwave lights off, then I turn the lights on ("high"), then I dim them ("night"), then I turn them back off at the very end. Note that my LED kitchen lights are on (dimmed) throughout the entire video and as you can see, they produce no flicker as expected. It's only once I turn these lights on that you see the flicker. I hope this helps someone.
