Doesn't Live Up to the Hype!
I don't if it was a faulty used item I received, but there were several issues with my unit. There were also other issues not related to being faulty- more of a design nature. I simply don't think this iron is worth the cost.
Pro's:
+ Iron is heavy and has a large base, which helps press the fabric during ironing sessions.
+ The nose section is pointed, which lets you get into corners a bit better.
+ A good amount of steam comes out when you press the top button.
+ The iron plate is polished stainless steel. It glided over my clothes better than my cheapo non-slip treated iron.
Con's:
- Gently shaking the iron while upright and with the fill cap closed results in water spewing out from the plate bottom.
- The digital selector dial was not accurate. A few times while turning the dial the LED display on the left side would be hopping around. Other than a digital display of iron temperature, there's no reason to have a digital control. This is a case of making something more complex, which introduces more stuff to break.
- Once or twice it felt like the cord was not sufficiently connected to the iron base at the swivel connector and I wondered if there were electrical shorts. This makes me doubt the iron's durability and reliability.
- I don't like that the steam button is on the top of the handle. I use steam more than water spray so for me, it's not ergonomic using my thumb to both deploy steam and control the iron. The trigger control for water spray works well. I would swap functions with the buttons because in my experience, I typically spray while aiming, but steam while moving.
- No cord wrap feature, nor a tab on the plug to lock itself against the cord.
Others:
~ My clothes came out wrinkle free... but they also come out wrinkle free with a $20 iron! I think $70 is probably the right price point for this iron. It's only an iron.
~ I don't think the off-white color of the cord matches the unit. Black cord would be better. Also, for the price of the unit a lighted plug end would be nice to alert you that it's plugged into power.
~ The fill cap worked well and adequately sealed after being closed.
