"Great ... for aggressive chewers" -- sort of
Dog owners who have dogs that can tear apart a toy in five minutes are really a gullible crowd -- and that includes me. I have a 16-month old shepherd/coonhound mix and she can eviscerate a typical stuffed toy in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. BUT..... as with others, I will happily ignore all the one- and two-star reviews complaining about shoddily made dog toys if the product promotion includes the right buzz words, as in "great for aggressive chewers". Well, if they say it, then it must be true! The tag attached to this toy hypes their "Tuffut Technology", which relates to the lining on the inside of the toy. The description text states: "This 2-layer process makes our toys so special – extra protection from aggressive chewers! Look for our tag with a sample of our Tuffut Technology lining when you shop for plush toys for your pet." HOWEVER, in the fine print on the back side of this toy it states: "WARNING! This is designed to be a play toy and NOT a chew toy." In this particular case (the cow toy), however, my issue is not with the lining, but the pull toy characteristics, which are also touted in the ad copy: "We understand how dogs play, so we purposely designed our toys with knotted limbs – perfect for how dogs love to tug and pull, both instinctive drives. These 'knotted' limbs and overall design shape make our Knotties unique and original - yes, we understand (and Love!) dogs!" And, yes, the limbs are definitely an attraction for playing "tug-o-war"; unfortunately, two came off within 10 minutes, and the tail is perilously close to being taken off. The knots are great. The seams attaching the limbs to the body are weak and flawed. All in all, not worth the $20 price.
