It is hard to describe how poorly written this book is, so I will give just an excerpt here: "In the upper story-the executive offices- the mighty beeches, firs, and spruce stretch out and soak up 97 percent of the sunlight. this behaviour is cruel and inconsiderate..." (p162) The anthropomorphism, the ascribing of inappropriate emotions and values, the romanticizing is all too much and it detracts from what useful information is in this book. I have an entire shelf of books on trees - this will not take its place on that shelf, it is simply awful.
