Literally a time bomb in your kitchen...
To begin, I absolutely and immediately fell in love with my Ninja Foodi. I am a long, established Ninja product fan, with my cupboards and cabinets full of them. Within a few weeks however, the Foodi began to show signs of stress with the pressure cook mode. It began with strange noises, groans and popping, disturbing to the point I would turn it off and restart it. Then, as the video attached demonstrates, suddenly the machine began building pressure with the lid locked, BUT SOMEHOW NOT SEALED?? First of all, the pressure cooking mode should NOT begin unless the lid is properly sealed, so how this happened is quite indicative of a major problem. But... I continued using it. It blew a breaker at my house, during the pressure cooking phase. Took it to my fiance's, and blew a breaker in a GFI plug... as soon as I plugged it in, and before I turned it on. Clearly something was very, VERY wrong. As the very short return period (less than 45 days, so do beware) had passed, I had no option but to call Ninja customer service. The associate recognized the great liability, risk to my family and home, and manufacturer's defect by offering me a free replacement, with a $20 shipping fee. Seriously? Shame on a giant like Ninja, actually with the audacity of asking me to spend another $20 in a situation like this. So please, understand how powerful and dangerous these appliances can be, and the manufacturer's refusal to properly address any defects. Shame on you Ninja, really.
