I bought three of these for my bathroom vent fans so that the fans can be activated before a shower and timed to run for a few minutes after a person is done showering. I purchased these from Amazon in August of 2013. As of September of 2017, one has failed. Here is a link to a video of the failed timer switch: https://youtu.be/-8GxkGl0pDo. When you try to activate the vent fan, the Leviton unit emits a very loud buzzing sound and the vent fan does not turn on. I am concerned that this type of failure could be a fire hazard. Luckily, these units come with a 5-year warranty through Leviton, but they do not make it easy to exercise the warranty. I contacted Leviton in September and spoke to a very unhelpful associate who lazily took my name, address, and part number and assured me I would receive a replacement part in a few weeks. He would not send me a confirmation email, and did not ask for proof of purchase. After waiting 2 months, I re-contacted Leviton a week ago and was helped by a much friendlier associate. He could not find my original request in their system, which is unsurprising. I resubmitted my claim and this time received a confirmation email with a claim number. If you are dealing with the same issue, GET A CLAIM NUMBER. I have not yet received my replacement, which is disappointing, but I will give it another week before I call back yet again. On average I am pleased with the functionality of this product (4 stars), but I am subtracting 1 star for the 33% failure rate after less than 5 years and I am subtracting another star for the painful warranty replacement process.
