Loved it for three weeks... had it up on HOT sunny days, excellent shade, easy to rotate and change tilt. Today weather shows 6 mph gusts... maybe it got up to 8 mph? whatever; the umbrella flipped over tearing out two seams and ripping a hole where it hit a roof flashing! It is so heavy i had to hire help to set it up, and called helper back today to help pick it up off deck floor. I verified that the Purple Leaf enormous base was still topped off with water; the gusts are still nothing more than a breeze. I am heart sick at spending $600- using it for less than a month and only on occasions that I was home with little to no wind. The base the umbrella comes with: either bolt it down to the floor or toss it out. Fill the Purple leaf with sand? yes heavier... the hole is small... and in future you want to empty it? how? small hole... heavy... is sand heavy enough? or does it really need to be bolted to floor? ANOTHER THING: the delivered package was missing parts... washers and bolts/screws - Reported to the seller but never heard back... finally did it myself: it took many trips to hardware store to find proper bolts to fix it to the base... I feel devastated... this was going to be a great solution to hot sun beaming into sliding glass doors and it was super wonderful for the few times I used it successfully.
