It's ironic that this seems like an attempt to burn the original novel and replace it with something sterile.
The book is one of the most important of our time, and becoming increasingly important as it really starts to come true in many ways. Such an important work should have been treated better. I remember reading the book AND watching an earlier version of a movie based on it, and feeling OVERWHELMING sense of loss at the concept of so much humanity being destroyed. This movie was just a pitiful insult to the topic and the novel. It's terribly ironic in a BAD way that THIS rendition is how a book burner would kill the original novel if they ran out of kerosene...
BURN this movie and go read the book.
