I agree with previous comments that the first season was the best with fascinating story lines that kept your interest. The second had some good story lines with the Smith family's conundrum that made them seem more human and almost likeable. Also, in the second season the trade minister's character and his relationship with Julianna was quite interesting. However, even though the plot is still somewhat interesting in this season, it is getting wearying and the characters seem flatter as mentioned by another reviewer. The introduction of the gay theme seems totally unnecessary and pandering to the current cultural and media trends. It seems that the writers introduced the gay theme, increased sex scenes, and more violence to make the story more edgy without adding anything to the story line. I would be interested to see if this theme is in the book. And the scene in Cuba that combines sex with violence was totally deplorable. I don't know who the writers and producers are trying to impress with that vulgar display, but I think they are totally missing their audience as is evidenced by the decrease in excellent and good ratings this year. As another reviewer also stated, I think maybe it is time to stop watching the video and start reading the book!
