This is a fine iron for the occasional clothing ironer. As long as it's moving, it stays on. It is definitely not for the sewist. When we sew, we need the iron to stay on when we turn away from the iron to the sewing machine. (This is pretty much constant when we sew.) This 8 minute auto-off switch makes it impossible to keep it on. Other issues: leaking, spitting, spewing, burning fingers, can't see the water level, doesn't hold enough water, no shot-of-steam. So not worth it. I'm sending this one back and getting one that goes for 30 minutes before shutting off. Fingers crossed it works fairly well and lasts for a few years. I feel like I'm stalking something that no longer exists, a decent iron. My dad (bless his heart) used to say "It's all about greed, all about money". It's true. Products these days are not made to last. My mom had 2 irons her whole entire life. Those days are gone. They want us to buy more and so they make products "disposable" now. It's a sad situation but Dad was right. All about greed. Shaking my head.
