Why are these smart women so dumb?
Could not get through first episode. I found the opening sequence unpleasant (Tom Petty singing as blood somehow drips horizontally through vintage photos after an entire family is massacred). Also, why is 50-year-old Eckhart paired with actresses in their 20s who seem to be highly intelligent but somehow willing to waste 4 years waiting for him to get his act together or willing to sleep with him after a brief walk around Paris? Why is Hajar made into a magic pixie Muslim who ignores the hateful racism of an old woman whom we are supposed to pity because Nazis? The women in this episode were highly problematic for me. I’m not sticking with it.
