Good Luck Adding a Grandparent
I am a Millennial (aka otherwise tech savvy) who purchased two of these for both my grandparents. I tried it out first, and it worked very well when I called my friends and family who ALREADY had a facebook. So before Christmas, I unboxed the two for my grandparents and started the process of making a facebook for them. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a way to add facebook contacts using whatsapp (because a whatsapp account was much easier to set up), but I wasn't concerned because I had already made new emails for both of my grandparents for their google home accounts.
BUT WHAT DO YOU KNOW! In all of facebook's infinite wisdom, both emails were rejected and their accounts disabled before I could even get to the part of adding a picture for them. Don't know why, all it said was that somehow my 100 year old violated the community guidelines. I immediately clicked for facebook to do a review, there must be a mistake. Facebook said they would gladly do a review if I provided a phone number they could text. HOW DOES A 100 YEAR OLD RESPOND TO A TEXT?!?! and of course I can't use my phone because it's already attached to my account.
So what do I do here? There is no number to call, no help desk to complain. Facebook sells this product on being a great easy way to communicate with the elderly, but does nothing to make it easy to get set up. I literally have no idea what to do other than keep trying different emails until maybe the great facebook will be gracious enough to let me video chat with my Grandparents.
