I used this model for years to make a daily medical protein drink for my child. Loved it - easy to use, easy to clean, and blended well. The blender base usually lasted about 18 months - not bad for daily use! when it eventually failed, I would replace the base and add to my "bottle" collection (the top part where the liquids go in - I never had a broken bottle in 5 years!). Then, last year, the bottle on a newly purchased unit broke during use - the blade assembly cracked off, causing liquid to spill all over the base, as well as my counter. It looked like the gear had just frozen up and sheared off. But when I replaced the whole unit, it happened again after a couple of weeks. I was hoping it was just a bad lot, so I ordered a different color. BUT - the same result. I'm not blending rocks - 6-8 ounces of liquid, and 1-2 small ice cubes. I have to admit defeat and go to a different brand/style/model.
