I purchased this wine cooler to replace a motorized Breville Wine Chiller that I had for eight years. I wanted something that would keep wine bottles cool, without having the bottle submerged in water. This Oggi seemed perfect for my needs. In the end I was disappointed with the OGGI, returning it after just a few weeks. I'm really surprised, with all the positive product reviews this was a real let down. Why I don't like the Oggi Wine Cooler: 1.) The Lightweight Steel Exterior: After bumping the top edge with the base of a wine bottle, it dented the metal. Luckily, with my tiny girl hands, I was able to bend it right back. Beyond the "thinnish" material, the freezer packs make the steel exterior really cold. It gets a ton of condensation on it (even in our dry desert air), then the condensation freezes so it looks like that big ice cream freezer in The Goonies. I'd like to see heavier, more durable material at least- a double wall design would be even better. 2.) The Black Plastic Inner Wall - The black plastic insert does an impressive job insulating between the cold freezer packs and the wine bottle that you're trying to keep cold. In use, the outside of this thing seems way colder than the interior. 3.) The Freezer Pack Design/Materials - The packs were the deal killer for me, and the reason I returned this item. When I put the freezer packs in my freezer overnight, they would bulge in places. The bulging spots on packs prevented me from installing the black insert. Since I couldn't assemble it, I couldn't use the Oggi... I thought to myself, hey I might just have some defective freezer packs! So I called the Oggi customer service line to see if they could help me out. From my conversation with the warranty rep, it seems they're well aware of this bulging problem. She couldn't help me, this was my fault. I was advised to put these in the freezer only long enough to get them cold, just not overnight since that's way too long. Facepalm. When I eventually get myself a butler, I plan to give him a stopwatch and put him on Oggi freezer pack detail. Until then, I can't recommend the Oggi Wine Cooler.
