We go through quite a bit of cinnamon (eat it daily in our hot cereal) and figured it would be a good idea to buy a larger, higher quality bulk package. Boy were we disappointed! As soon as I opened the package I could tell something was wrong; no strong aroma and there was an underlying smell that (I can't quite describe it) was just very out of place. I figured we should at least give it a try and I blended it in our next batch of muesli/hot cereal. It was flat tasting, kind of gritty, and the same strange underlying smell was still coming through. Not much of a cinnamon taste at all! Now we have purchased fine quality Ceylon cinnamon before and have been very happy with it... this is definitely not the same standard, and to be honest, you'd be better off just grabbing some McCormick as far as flavor/aroma goes. I don't know if this was "cut" with an inferior ingredient or if we received a bad batch, but this is so bad I'm probably going to just throw away the rest of the one pound bag.
