The filter system on this is fine but the steel housing is not safe or sanitary. The box came with a warning on the outside that the steel housing was sharp enough to cut fingers. This is true, it is sharp enough to cut. Also, the steel is not closely adhered to the glass. There is a space between the glass and steel which tapers down to the bottom, so coffee (dish soap, etc...) is going to get in there and never come out. The glass does not appear to separate from the steel for cleaning purposes.
