It's moments like this that I enjoy buying from Amazon. I read the reviews warning people that this Sentry box was not made well. I figured they were all crazy. I had one of these things for years and loved it but somehow no longer had it. So I purchased one despite reading the warnings. I guess Sentry is now part of that made in China crap we buy. I received shipment from Amazon and the box was perfect. Took the fire safe out and it was nasty, grimy and covered in a greasy powder. Looked like it had been used at a construction site. Called Amazon who promptly refunded my money but I became curious as to what was on the fire safe. I proceeded to clean it up and voila! The top breaks off in my hand. Apparently the hinge is just concrete (?) or some fire safe material poured into plastic and was probably dropped during shipment. Needless to say they just don't make em like they used to. As other reviewers noted, the latch is also pure garbage. Don't waste your money, there are better options including finding a vintage unit on CL. See photos
