Update: I despise this version! At this point, I no longer bother using it properly, I grab a new bag, tie off the end and set it in the lower chamber. When I clean the boxes, it's easier just to take the bag out and go to the boxes without the unit. Putting it back in, I just smoosh the crap into a smaller column before carefully threading it back in, and repeat bringing it back out. I keep some packing tape on hand for any tears that occur from the sharp sides and cutter (which is in the stupidest spot ever) and am resigned to the scratches and nick in my flesh (I wash my hands immediately anyway, and what's a little blood loss, compared to not smelling cat excrement?) I think whomever came up with this design has never had an animal to clean up after, period. It takes me more time and energy using this thing, than it does cleaning a horse stall or the dogs yard after its snowed. Not as good as the smaller versions. I love my original litter genie, but with more cats I was changing the bag every 3-4 days, and that's the worst part of the unit. I figured the XL version would be great, but it's awkward to move between litter boxes, separates from its lower sections frequently, and when it's time to change the bag, it's hard to get the very heavy bag through the small opening without tearing holes in the bag.
