Do not trust this product.
All you need to read about this device is how Bitdefender answered this question:
"How does this device inspect SSL traffic that can be either malicious or harmless?"
"A: The incidence of malware and phishing over SSL is extremely low. To be able to execute this type of attack a valid certificate from a trusted authority must be purchased.
SSL scanning has an impact on the content provided through secure connections, in many cases the page can be broken or unreadable. BOX doesn't include this scanning mechanism to avoid these types of issues on a low incidence type of threat."
Anyone in the security industry knows that this is /complete/ horses***. An SSL certificate does NOT cost much, if any money, and anyone with half a brain writing malware will encrypt it with SSL so they aren't easily discovered. That statement is asinine - I wouldn't trust a thing this company says, or their product.
While having in-line protection is certainly not a bad thing in theory, SSL decryption is important (although problematic). This thing certainly won't make IoT devices any safter than your average home router's firewall as they claim. Bitdefender, nice try making fools of the consumer. Security professionals will out you when you pull stunts like this.
