I bought this for my 7 year old beagle with arthritis in her back. I was drawn to this because it was 4" of memory foam. I know memory foam is great for dogs with this condition and based on the reviews, I went ahead and bought it. My first impressions were mixed. I personally thought it was a great bed. Nice, big with accurate dimensions, comfortable, but my dog had different ideas. I will break everything down- Packaging- It came in a box way too small for the LARGE bed bed I ordered, but it did go to its original size in two days. So that was not an issue. The cover- Nice and soft and the color is as depicted. It is way too thin though. My dog is not a puppy and therefore won't go on rampages and destroy everything, but just once she turned around and pawed at it a few times to get comfortable, you could see the cover would not hold up. The smell- It smells. It's this nasty chemical smell. It does go away a bit after you air it out though. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT- The "memory foam" is NOT memory foam. It is 2" of egg crate foam and 2" of foam. This bed ended up being too soft for my dog. I had her sleep on this bed (egg crate side) and she woke up stiff. I figured I'd just flip it over and it would be okay since it is firmer. Wrong. She woke up limping. I put out her old bed and she was no longer limping or having a hard time getting up. I gave up on this bed and returned it. If you buy this for a dog that does not have any health problems it should be fine. It's soft and the egg crate is nice. I got this for my beagle so I got the large she weighs less than 30 pounds and did not sink to the bottom. It's just the 2" egg crate that sank a bit. Should be fine with dogs that weigh 30 pounds or less (from my experience.) It However does nothing for a dog with arthritis which is the reason I bought this bed to begin with. Overall, not real memory foam, it smells, and the cover is a bit on the thin side.
