Get ready to ruin your whole weekend. I had a very clean split in a boat cusion. used the adhesive and backing and the split dried with a rather visible seam, no problem as I can fill it with the color compound.
you might as well fill it with mayonnaise. once you get the color matched and looking good, you apply it to your repair and then cover with grain paper, then heat the iron and cure it.
it NEVER cures. EVER. follow the instructions exactly, try it hotter, try it cooler, no matter how many times you do it it's NEVER going to cure. What's really bizarre is, the consistency NEVER changes, it's not like you're getting close each time, it's always as runny as before you heat it. What's great is, the heating/cooling/peeling/reapplying process takes ten minutes each time you do it, so before you know it you've wasted an hour and all you have to show for it is a pile of paper towels and enough rage to strangle the person at 3M who made this crap.
