I was completely head over heels for this brand of coconut water. Some friends who had visited me recently were real coconut water NUTS. They had case upon case of vita coco in their car. They left some with me and I grew to love it. I have always been a fan of coconut anway..even adding the oil to drinks and drinking it dissolved in warm water etc. I believe in the health benefits in moderation. So, I began ordering here monthly and have enjoyed carton after carton until I recently opened my new box and drank a carton. First pouring it into the cup it was urine yellow..not kidding! I guess almost like apple juice. I was really skeeved but decided to drink it...and it was disgusting. Didn't smell very bad, just off, but was nothing like the white cloudy vita coco with a yummy almost milk like taste I have grown accustomed to. I decided to open another the next day and same story..I felt like gagging it was so strong and gross tasting...not even close to the same drink and certainly not refreshing by any stretch of the imagination. I decided to look in the recycling at the old cartons left in there that I had drank previously, and I made the discovery that my old vita coco's were made in Brazil while this new box, all the cartons said product of Mexico...that must be it, maybe?? I called Amazon and let them know and they sent me a replacement box. This new box also had cartons made in Mexico. I refrigerated two to try. The next day I opened one and sure enough..yellow and disgusting. Not as bad as the first box but same taste overall. I will pour them all down the drain. What a complete waste. Needless to say I will not order vita coco ever again unless maybe I had a guarantee the coconuts were from Brazil. I am saddened but now I am trying a new brand, Naked..we'll see! Amazon was great about the whole thing. I hope they can clarify this disparity with vita coco. It's a shame vita coco does not have better quality control. I know their packaging states there is variance between the products but this was not an acceptable variance..this was just plain disgusting and no one in their right mind would drink them!
