I purchased this item based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews here on Amazon. I have to say I am more disappointed in this product than any product I have ever purchased online. The dehumidifier worked well out of the box and continued that way for only about 2 weeks. I noticed that the dehumidifier would cycle on and off so frequently that it wasn't even believable. The humidistat would track all over the place. It would read 40% and 3 minutes later read 70%. It would turn on for about 2 minutes, then shut off for maybe 3, then start again. Working in the air conditioning industry, I know that this is not an efficient way for a compressor to operate. It would be better if the unit would run for even 5 minutes, then stay off for 10. So all that aside, 2 weeks after getting the unit trouble arose. The condensate pump started to run long after the unit would turn off. A slight tilt of the unit would turn it off by getting the float to move and release the contactor that engages the pump to cycle on. As time went on the pump would run longer and longer, to the point that it would run dry and make a god-awful loud vibration noise. The contactor was getting stuck, and the pump would run all night long sometimes. It continued this way for a month, and I threw in the towel and begged Amazon to take it back, even though the 30 day period was over. I gladly paid them the over $50 restocking fee to get rid of this lemon. The pump got fried from running dry for so long, and wasn't pumping water anyvlonger when I sent it back. Freidrich has the opposite of customer service. Numerous attempts to contact them went unaswered. Nobody from the warranty department, nobody from the helpline, nobody from their website department would get back to me. I would NOT buy a product from them again. It worked great when it worked, and otheres have had success with their units, but if you get a bad one, you will be left out to dry.
