Very good value for the price
Edited 5/21/21: I lowered the rating from 4 to 2 stars because after fewer than 2 years, the mattress is now causing me lower back pain. It seems to be sagging as I am sinking more into the mattress than I was previously when I sit and read in bed. The mattress was medium firm when I first got it. So I guess you do get what you pay for.
I ordered the hybrid mattress based on the overall good reviews without realizing that there were only a couple of actual reviews for the hybrid mattress at the time. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous waiting for it to arrive. Unfortunately, I ended up returning the first mattress delivered because the memory foam layers on top never expanded much even after 2 weeks. The mattress measured 10-10.5" only, not 12". The return process was relatively painless. Amazon sets up a scheduled pick up date and time with a company that comes and takes away the mattress.
The replacement mattress I got has lived up to expectations. First of all, just a note that it comes in a long heavy box and it is HEAVY. The thing weighs close to 100lbs. After getting it onto the box spring and opening up the plastic, I inspected the surface. One thing I noted (on both mattresses) was that there were a lot of loose threads on the pillow top surface as well as the blue "netting" that covers the foam layers. Hopefully just a cosmetic issue.
The one thing I love is that you can definitely feel how cool the gel-infused memory foam is on top. Of course, once you put a mattress protector, then your sheet over it, you might not feel that coolness anymore, but at least it does not feel like the memory foam traps heat. The knitted pillow top is also super comfy to sleep on.
It took over a week for the mattress to expand to the full 12" but I took away a star as it is a tad uneven. The corners remain somewhat squished and you can see where the foam layers have not expanded properly. But as people don't sleep on mattress corners, it shouldn't affect the overall comfort of the mattress.
Considering the price - just a little over $300 after taxes and fees - the Vibe hybrid matress is a great bargain. Before I found it on amazon, I was considering mattresses in the $900-1500 price range, so I can live with a few minor flaws.
One last thing: because the mattress is so heavy, I found it very hard on my back when changing sheets. so I got the Bed MadeEZ Bed Maker and Mattress Lifter to help me when I needed to tuck my sheets under the mattress, and it really made a difference.
