The Panda vs the Nina Soft
First machine arrived and wouldn’t even turn on... not a great start. Returned for a replacement. Second machine spun the clothes and they came out quite dry- great! We liked that it had a five minute auto shut off, but we never ended up needing it as our clothes were dry enough before then. It's also great that it has a stainless steel drum.
HOWEVER, we ended up purchasing the Laundry Alternative’s Nina Soft and returned the Panda. In comparison to the Nina, we felt the Panda construction wasn’t very sturdy- the transparent lid was flimsy and wiggled around. We thought it might break the first time it slammed shut. We planned to store the machine under a shelf and needed the door to remain half open to air out between uses. The Panda door was was either open or shut- no spring to keep it half open, like the Nina. The handle to turn the machine on/off felt like it’d be the first to break. The spout is quite low, and it was difficult to find a container that was low yet large enough to contain all the water that came out of the clothes. This machine doesn’t have prongs (or whatever you call them!) that allow you to wrap the cord around for storage . The stainless steel exterior looked dirty after just having taken it out of the box- you’d definitely have to wipe it off constantly. It felt like it would dent and scratch very easily. Yes, it did spin our clothes *ever so slightly* drier than the Nina (Panda is 3200rpm vs the Nina 1800rpm), but the overall machine didn’t have the sturdy and quality made features that made us feel like it would last very long! We also felt more confident with the Nina because it has a three year warranty- the Panda only has a one year (from what we understand anyways! This information wasn't easy to find). And if you're wondering about overall size- they're generally the same size- the Panda is slightly taller, but the Nina is a bit wider at the base. How does the Panda's 22lb capacity compare to the Nina's 12lb? I thought it would be a lot, but it only ended up being around two men's medium Hanes t-shirts, or a pair of women's size 32 jeans- not much! In any case, opt for the Nina- much better construction!
I'm definitely not getting paid to promote the Nina Soft- I couldn't find a comparison online and had to comb through hundred of questions and reviews just to find the information I was looking for. Hope this review is helpful to anyone out there trying to decide between the two!
