I have the American Red Cross FRX3 and was ordering another radio as a gift..Inadvertently I ordered the FRX3 +....The big difference between the two radios is the plus looses the ability to function if the include battery can not be recharged. The FRX3 allows the installation of three AAA batteries .not the Plus. If the rechargeable goes bad the radio is useless .. They did give you a larger rechargeable in the PLUS . The second item is the placement of the buttons. They are located below the handle,making them very difficult to see. The ability of installing the AAA was a big difference between this and other radios ...If I was able to return this I would it. Sam S
