Don't Buy This!
Back in 2001 we purchased the KitchenAid KFP600 11-Cup Ultra Power Food Processor, and used it continuously ever since (17 years!) - so it more or less followed our 2 sons growing up, and the experience of numerous meals my wife and I prepared with this processor was made better because of its high quality. Last week the plastic bawl broke and I could NOT find a replacement anywhere - and I search. Otherwise, it is working great.
I ordered this KFP1133ER 11-Cup - It arrived today. What a disappointment!!! The original was die-cast - very heavy, which meant it sits very solidly on the counter. The new model is made of plastic, and feels cheap and flimsy. It is so light I suspect any meaningful use will cause it to move and vibrate a lot, requiring 2 hands to hold it in place. The older model had a 600w motor, this one - only 380w (I had to research this on other website). When you compare the 2 machines, it is frustrating to see how far degraded the new model is, in terms of materials, quality, and ease of use. The buttons on the new model are VERY difficult to use, the The 3-in-1 Wide Mouth Feed Tube is worthless because its too makes no sense when you prepare food, unless you want to use 1 configuration for you carrots, then stop and try to pull the plastic adjustment out so you have a slightly wider hole for your say, zucchini, and pull that one out for onions -- life is too short! (you then need to wash all the parts, etc) + you can not operate the machine without the feed tube in!!!
Hard to believe it is a KitchenAid! Who designed this thing? Clearly, not someone who actually prepares food... I've now read some of the other comments, and quite a few share a very similar story: Had a great experience with the machine they purchased when KitchenAid knew how to make food processors, terribly disappointed by this model. Sending it right back - Amazon, thanks for a 2nd to none customer service!. Very disappointed with KitchenAid.
