**** This is a MUST READ 5 STAR Review ****
************************** IMPORTANT UPDATE 2/12/2016 **********************
THE MODEL I REVIEWED HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED so this tread may no longer be valid. Late last year HP dropped support for HP Smart Install. I have no idea if the new model installs or functions like the old one. I hope they bring it back.

Since most people only read the negative reviews I just had to post it here so you could benefit from the information herein. HP, PLEASE accept my apologies.
At first I was put off by so many negative reviews. Then I read all the 1 Star Posts. It became obvious that many of them simply can't read or follow instructions. A few of them state "you have to use the USB cable on each computer to install". And I'll bet others did the same and that is why they can't get a solid wireless connection. The instructions clearly tell you to unplug the USB cable during the installation (then you can throw the USB cable in the trash). If you don't disconnect the USB cable when you are TOLD to you are on your way to frustration as the software may not be able to figure out if it is a USB or IP installation.
NOW, I have to admit the instructions are vague about how to install the other computers on your network. So here it is. After the initial installation on the first computer is completed press and hold the X for 5 seconds to print a configuration page. On the page you will find the IP address of the printer. (No IP?? Then uninstall, clean the registry and reinstall) Now go to the second computer and open a browser session (Internet Explorer, Chrome or FireFox) and in the address bar type the printer IP address (no WWW just the IP eg 192.168.1.120). This will open the printer's web interface. Click on the "HP Smart Install" tab and download and install the software.
I do have some network experience so I understood the process but still the entire process is incredibly easy. I did 7 computers (4 XP 3 Win7, 4 wired to router 3 wireless) in under 25 minutes. I have unplugged it, turned it off and cursed at it but it seems rock solid.

Update Sept 15, 2014
Now I have three and they are all quite happy on the same network
******************************************************
I have read that some people were complaining they had to press the power button to bring the printer online. I bought the last printer used from a very frustrated fellow that could not make it work wireless to his satisfaction. It was set up to turn off in 2 hours. This realls should have worked but all I had to do was set the Auto Off to 24 hours. So when I do a print job it will stay awake for another 24 hours. Since it is a spare I changed it to 30 minutes so it would turn off. But all the rest of the printers are set to Auto Off - NEVER
Routers Count
I have been recommending this printer to friends. One friend had trouble keeping it connected. I finally installed a Linksys WRT54G as a second router. His printer has not dropped connection since.
****************** Update Nov 2, 2015************************
More than two years has past. I hope HP has not made any changes. As it is all three of my printer working fine. None of them have given me any problem.
