Heavy Metal Contamination?
I ordered this because it seemed like exactly what I needed. And my kid enjoyed it. However, after ordering it, I found that Enfagrow Toddler Transitions had been rated poorly by the Clean Label Project (a nonprofit organization that tests food safety). Apparently it has some heavy metal contamination, and possibly some industrial contaminants. I suspect that it is "within FDA guidelines," but those are somewhat in flux right now due to a growing body of scientific evidence that even limited exposure to heavy metals can have an impact on child development. I don't want to be one of those people, but I also don't want to cut corners for my kid's health. I eventually settled on "Baby's Only Organic" brand, which was the highest-rated by the Clean Label Project. Bonus: it turns out it's cheaper than Enfagrow if you buy it through their website. It looks like it's a little pricier on Amazon, because it's sold through a third-party / not prime-eligible. Ideally, I would like to see Enfagrow and similar big brands follow suit and improve the quality of their formulas. Until then, I guess I have to rely on independent research organizations.
