Aggressively turns itself off to save battery. Poor audio quality.
There are many things wrong with this device and very few right. I purchased this for a home speaker. I very quickly learned that to extend the battery, it aggressively turns itself off if no audio is being played. It does not turn back on when audio resumes either since it is no longer connected to the device. I would have assumed that if it was plugged in with USB and charging it would stay on... but nope. I searched and found a way around this, if you keep a 3.5mm audio cable plugged in, it will stay on. The Bluetooth connection sounds OKAY for the most part, but lately has been acting like there is interference, the audio distorts and cuts out. The speaker is a couple of feet from the Bluetooth transmitter. My Bluetooth headset does not suffer the same issue. (They are not both in use at the same time) So I tried using the 3.5mm input. It too is getting some random distortion. Other devices have used the same audio jack without issue. I'm thinking whatever is causing the Bluetooth distortion is still affecting the device as a whole, meaning the Bluetooth is still on while the 3.5mm is plugged in. That's my guess. The audio quality itself is okay, but I expected much much better based on the reviews and description. We have an older 2.0 desktop speaker set that blows this thing out of the water. If you want high fidelity, this is not a good choice. I love Anker's power products, so this was a huge disappointment. I do not recommend this product at all.
