Fake UGGs sold by Amazon
--Edit-- I see that a number of reviews here claim that they received fakes because theirs was made in China. That's a false assumption. UGGs are made in factories in China, Cambodia, Phillippines, and Vietnam. If you receive a pair that claims to be made in Australia or New Zealand, that's actually a sign of counterfeit. As for the labels, security stripe is only sewn inside the LEFT boot. The right boot label still contains sizing and country of origin information. --Original Review-- So, I am a professor of supply chain management. Naturally, I am aware of the proliferation of counterfeit goods being sold online, especially among Amazon marketplace sellers. So when it came to buying a pair of UGGs, I stuck with buying directly from Amazon because I am under the impression that Amazon buys directly from manufacturers. Boy was I disappointed. Right out of the box, the exterior of the boots did not feel nearly as high quality as another pair of UGGs that we purchased from Zappos (ironically, an Amazon company). The inner linings of the boots are supposed to be sheep fur, which have a soft but sturdy feel. The inner linings of this pair felt rough to touch and definitely did not come from sheep, if not altogether synthetic. The telltale sign: with slight pull, the inner lining came off very easily. UGGs, since 2010, had included a security stripe in their sewn-in labels in the left boot. The sewn-in labels of this pair did not have anything. UGGs use a standard manufacturing equipment to sew in their logo patches to the heel, and as a result the stitching should be perfectly rectangular and even around the border. This pair had uneven stitching that went slightly crooked around the corners. Quite frankly, I am shocked that even ensuring to select "Sold by and Shipped by Amazon" ended up getting me a pair of counterfeits. No wonder manufacturers such as Birkenstock sued to stop Amazon from even listing their products for sale in any capacity. Caveat emptor: Amazon's supply chain security processes are subpar and wholly inadequate to prevent counterfeit products from infiltrating even those products they procure, manage, and distribute.
