These stools look good and actually seem high quality. They aren't. The are cheap knock off garbage with terrible fasteners and wood that breaks VERY easily. They are not even worth the $25 that Amazon is selling them for. The screws are made of such cheap metal that you can strip them out even with the stubby allen wrench that they give you. If you make the mistake like I did and try to use a small electric screwdriver they strip almost instantly the second you CAREFULLY try to screw them in. They probably would be stronger if they used cheese or soap for the metal. The worst quality chinese pot metal you could hope for. Don't buy this garbage. They make the cheapest stool that the Ikea store makes seem high end in it's construction quality. The wood as well is a joke. After stripping several fasteners on the stool pictured I in a fit of frustration and rage hit it with my electric screwdriver. The wood shattered so easily it was astonishing. Literally no effort at all and I smashed the entire stool to bits. These stools are so weak they are actually dangerous. If you do manage to assemble these with the stubby allen wrench they provide you deserve sainthood for your patience and willingness to destroy your hands in the process. If you use a socket set be super careful as even the increased torque with that can easily strip out the screws. And you are just doomed if you decide to use any kind of powered screwdriver at all. Even with the torque set to the lowest setting and the clutch willing to yell at you at it's lowest settings these screws will strip almost instantly. Save yourself the time, hassle and sanity and steer clear of this junk. If you have these and they are assembled think twice before letting fat people anywhere near them. They are a personal injury case waiting to happen with as weak as the wood is. Don't let it's sturdy looks fool you. Total utter garbage. Which is where the stool in my photo is going right after I submit this review. Amazon. Seriously. If this is the kind of stuff you are selling perhaps I should rethink our relationship and see other people. Is there any quality control or safety checks that you do before listing an item for sale? Any oversight whatsoever to what your chinese suppliers put into a box and pawn off onto your customers?
